I have to say, i am recently more and more frequenting HowardForums.com and reading about data tethering with Boost Mobile and ATT wireless. Both of these are PayAsYouGo, which is FABULOUS so i dont fudge up my family’s wireless bill. I went ahead and bought two Boost Mobile phones on Ebay for $19.25 total. I also bought a SIM card on ebay for $6.something that has $5 worth of credits to use with the phones i bought. I am so cought up in this tethering craze i am driving my friends crazty with the talk of 3G and iDEN and Data Cable and tethering and Cellular. Although I did promise Patrick one of the two phones that i won on Ebay. It would be fun to use Mologogo on them so we could chat and see current locations and such. Too bad all my friends arent tech heads, or else we could have one big Mologogo orgy (define:orgy returend “any act of immoderate indulgence; “an orgy of shopping”; “an emotional binge”; “a splurge of spending” on Google so totally non-sexual) if you will.
To further my point about my craze here is an email that i just sent to Patrick. Click the read link to read more!
Here is the email.
“any act of immoderate indulgence; “an orgy of shopping”; “an emotional binge”; “a splurge of spending”… oh crap, i lost my clipboard when i googled “define:orgy”.. lets try this again.
“More about my stoopid boost shit. You are probably sick of it by now.
I bought the $5 credit SIM card like 20 minutes ago so i will have data on my trip in August.
Also posted a want-it-now on Ebay about a blackberry. I dont know why but i feel myself compelled to get one, because of the temptation of $40/per year. I will try to hold off as much as possible and use the cheapo phone instead. Maybe if i buy one and get it working i can get it out of my system and then sell it to my cousin or something.
Also was reading about how to get 3G for 19.95 a month with a 3G phone/data card and a ATT GoPhone plan. I have a 3G capable phone at my dads house but i cant justify the $25 for the activation. How it works is you go to an ATT store and say that you want a GoPhone account activated. They give you a free SIM and if you deposit at least $25 into the account then, you get $10 free credit, giving your account $35 balance. You then add the 19.95/month MediaNET unlimited data plan which charges your account 19.95. Then you put the SIM into a 3G phone or data card connected to your computer and enjoy the 3G goodness. if you instead deposit $30 when you activate you might be able to squeeze 2 months of data out of $30, because of the $10 free credit.
Depending on the Boost Mobile speeds i might have to get a ATT PAYG SIM for MacWorld and tether with said 3G capable phone that is at my Dad’s house. I dont know if the one that is in my drawer is 3G but the two that used to be Niko’s phone and my dads phone definately are because the startup screen says 3G.
Enough of my babbling. I am going to read the most boring book ever now. I think maybe i will post this on my blog too for no reason other than to confuse people about things that were never before mentioned. yes, ill do it. ”
So if you are already irritated from reading this then sound off in the comments. If you are a friend of mine and want cheap tethering or a cheap blackberry *cough* avert *cough* you know my email and i can point you in the right direction. No, i am not selling them for profit, and i am not trying to scam a company, i am simply using advertised services to their full extent.
